A Longview-based petroleum company plans to build a light industrial facility with three buildings along one of the last undeveloped properties on Fruit Valley Road, according to plans submitted to the city of Vancouver.
The company, Wilson Oil Inc., which operates under the name Wilcox & Flegal, bought the property at 6112 N.W. Fruit Valley Road for $2 million in 2010, according to county property records. The site is currently an unoccupied and overgrown field with power lines running through it.
Three parcels in the development make up almost 27 acres for the building, parking and water-quality area. Three planned buildings will total about 252,000 square feet, and they’ll be used for warehousing, freight movement and offices, along with parking spaces. Architecture firm Ware Malcomb submitted plans for the buildings.
Wilson Oil owns and operates 13 gas and convenience stores and 30 “cardlock locations” in the Pacific Northwest, according to business directory Dun & Bradstreet. Wilson Oil distributed Chevron-, 76- and Shell-brand gas to over 160 service stations. It sells more than 210 million gallons of automotive fuel per year.
Wilson Oil was given the largest Paycheck Protection Program loan in Cowlitz County for about $5.6 million, forgiven in June, according to data provided by ProPublica.
The founder of Wilson Oil, William “Bill” Wilson, died in April, according to the Longview Daily News. Wilson worked for Standard Oil Co. of California and moved to Longview in 1971. He acquired the Standard Oil distributorship and merged with Wilcox & Flegal to create Wilson Oil Inc., according to his obituary.
The Columbian could not reach a representative from Wilson Oil for a comment on Monday.
