Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, Juice WRLD, Justin Bieber And King Von: Big Moves On The Hot 100 - Forbes

The five tracks that are most worth noting on this week’s Hot 100 are a healthy mix of debuts from beloved stars and those who are no longer with us, rising smashes that hit important highs and even arrival one that features one of the biggest pop icons ever, but which had a tough time finding space on the tally.

Here’s a look at five of the most important moves on this week’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No. 2 - Nicki Minaj & Lil Baby - “Do We Have A Problem?”

The pairing of Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby proved to be incredibly powerful, as the rappers launch their joint single “Do We Have A Problem?” at No. 2 on this week’s Hot 100, nearly capturing the throne. Somewhat frustratingly, it’s the third song by Baby to miss the throne by one space, and so far, he hasn’t made it to No. 1. The tune was followed closely by a second track, “Bussin,” which should make it to the tally next frame. The cut is Minaj’s twentieth placement inside the chart’s top 10.

No. 9 - Justin Bieber - “Ghost”

New to the top 10, but not the Hot 100, is Justin Bieber’s “Ghost,” which lifts from No. 12 to No. 9. The cut, which serves as the latest single from his blockbuster album Justice, took its time climbing into the highest tier, as it breaks into the arena in its twentieth turn on the tally. “Ghost” is the Canadian pop star’s twenty-sixth top 10 smash on the Hot 100, and he is now one of only 11 acts to reach that milestone.

No. 40 - King Von & 21 Savage - “Don’t Play That”

New at No. 40 is “Don’t Play That” by hip-hop musicians 21 Savage and King Von, who earns his first placement inside the important top 40 region on the Hot 100 posthumously. The rapper was shot and killed back in 2020, but his estate has continued to share music he left behind. “Don’t Play That” could very well be the first taste of an upcoming full-length of some sort.

No. 43 - Juice WRLD - “Cigarettes”

Another hip-hop talent gone too soon also scores one more Hot 100 hit just a few spaces behind Von. Juice WRLD’s new release “Cigarettes” launches at No. 43, giving the late rapper yet another posthumous placement on the ranking. Since passing away in 2019, WRLD has charted a pair of top 10 albums on the Billboard 200 and more than a dozen hits on the songs list. The tune is featured on the recently-expanded edition of his most recent full-length Fighting Demons.

No. 97 - Alesso & Katy Perry - “When I’m Gone”

After spending weeks on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, a 25-spot extension of the main Hot 100, Katy Perry and Alesso’s “When I’m Gone” finally breaks onto the top list. The dance-pop collaboration starts off at No. 97, but it may soon rise again, as Perry and the DJ continue to promote the effort.
