Summer is right around the corner and as the weather warms, your kids are sure to be more thirsty. While it would be great if water was enough to satisfy them all summer long, most kids will want a little variety in their daily beverages. In an effort to make sure they stay hydrated, you may opt to add some sort of juice or soda into the mix. Store-bought juices can add up in cost, and they can also be full of sugars that you don't want your kid consuming every day. Juices don't have to be unhealthy though. With just a few minutes and the right ingredients, you can supplement your kid's daily drinking with delicious homemade juices that are not only refreshing but nutritious.
Watermelon Lemonade

2. Strain the watermelon "pulp" through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher.
3. Add freshly-squeezed lemon juice and powdered sugar and stir until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
4. Pour in the sparkling water and stir. Serve over ice (or shaken with ice). You can add a sprig or two of mint as a garnish to make it extra special!

Homemade Lemonade
Ingredients
6 cups water, divided
1/3 cup raw honey
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (approx. 4-6 large lemons)
Instructions
1. Add the water and raw honey to a pot or saucepan over medium heat.
2. Stir just until the honey is dissolved. This should take about a minute.
3. Remove from heat.
4. In a separate pitcher or large container, add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and water.
5. Add the raw honey mixture, as needed, to bring about the desired level of sweetness.
6. Refrigerate until chilled and then serve over ice.
To keep this as sugar-free as possible, try to avoid adding sweetener but if you feel its too tart, you can supplement with sugar. Just make sure to taste it before and as you add so that you don't oversweeten!
