WASHINGTON (7News) — Willamette Valley Fruit Co. is voluntarily recalling select frozen fruit items due to a potential Hepatitis A contamination, according to the FDA.
The recalled frozen fruit packages all contain strawberries that were grown in Mexico. Stores across the country distributed the products including several Walmart locations in Maryland and Virginia.

Walmart's recalled items are its Great Value Sliced Strawberries (Lot #4018305, 4019305), Great Value Mixed Fruit (Lot #4024205, 4025305, 4032305) and Great Value Antioxidant Blend (Lot #4032305).
The FDA said, "Consumers are urged to check their freezers for the recalled product, not to consume it and either discard the product or return it to the store for a refund. Products that have different lot codes or purchase dates are not subject to this recall."
Hepatitis A is a contagious liver disease that results from exposure to the Hepatitis A virus, sometimes found in food, the FDA explained. Illness from the disease can range from a mild illness lasting a few weeks to a serious illness lasting several months. Illness generally occurs within 15 to 50 days of exposure and includes fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, dark urine and pale stool.
