Street vendors who sell fruits or vegetables sometimes employ unique methods to attract customers. In a bid to sell his mangoes, a fruit-seller in Pakistan is seen in a video singing an improvised version of Shakira’s hit song ‘Waka Waka’ and it is a hit among netizens.
A meme page on Instagram called @hamzachoudharyofficial posted the clip a few days ago and it has gone massively viral, raking in 4.4 million views so far. Shouting ‘mango, mango’, the man sang his version of the 2010 mega-hit song and it is hilarious to listen to.
The seller is heard exhorting customers to buy mangoes from him and feed them to their children in “raw form” or as “juice”. The video is reportedly from the city of Attock, which is located in the north of Pakistan’s Punjab province. “Only Attock have this type of talent,” says the caption of the clip.

The video delighted netizens who praised the fruit seller’s enthusiasm. “Welcome to Pakistan,” commented a user. “Pakistani Shakira,” said another. “Shakira in multiverse,” wrote a third. “Respect for having this much confidence, if this leads to sales then its not stupid,” shared another. “I want this version on Spotify,” joked another netizen.
In 2016, another fruit-seller from Pakistan became a social media sensation after a video of him singing Arijit Singh’s popular song ‘Baate ye kabhi na’ from the movie Khamoshiyan went viral on the internet. In the video, the man – identified as Tahir Zaman – can be seen singing the song with simplicity, yet he manages to mesmerise listeners with his melodious voice.
