CLEVELAND, Ohio - Platform Beer Co. is releasing Fruit Hoops, a tart ale the brewery says is inspired by Saturday-morning cartoons and cereal-filled childhood days.
The first 600 customers to buy a box of Fruit Hoops at Platform taprooms or through home delivery will receive the commemorative grocery-sized cereal box containing a four-pack of 16-ounce cans and t-shirt. Cost is $22.99.
The ale is billed as having natural fruit flavors of cherry, lime and lemon from fresh fruit purees and essences. It is 5.5% alcohol.
“At some point as adults, we like to reflect on those youthful Saturday mornings where all that mattered was our favorite cartoons and a cold, delicious bowl of fruity cereal. That’s what inspired Fruit Hoops’ creation, that moment of joy when you ripped open that box of cereal to that sweet, fruity aroma and dug around for the special prize in the bottom of the box,” Platform co-founder Paul Benner said in a release. “Now, as adults, the prize just happens to be beer and a tee shirt.”
Fruit Hoops will be released Saturday, July 25, at all three Platform locations in Cleveland: The original taproom at 4125 Lorain Ave., production facility at 3506 Vega Ave., and Phunkenship at 3135 Sackett Ave.
Retail distribution will follow, but the only chance for the box and t-shirt packaging is through pre-orders via platformbeer.co/delivery.
