Make one of these fruit salads for your next (socially-distant) barbecue.

Some may say ice cream is the cure for a steamy summer day, but in my book, there’s nothing more refreshing than a chilled bowl of fruit. But forget about the cold apple that’s sitting in your fridge—instead, try one of these fruit salad recipes.

These fruit salad recipes feature a variety of different fruits mixed with things like quinoa, cheese, and even rum. You can get fancy and make a grilled salad or keep it simple and work with what you have in your fridge.

1. Tropical Quinoa Salad

This fruit salad is made with tropical fruits like mango and kiwis, while quinoa provides some extra protein. A tangy dressing gives the salad some extra flavor and is made with fresh squeezed oranges, honey, lemon, and some dijon mustard.

2. Rainbow Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Dressing

Seven different types of fruit are used in this salad, including fresh strawberries, fresh pineapple, grapes, blueberries, and bananas. If you prefer, you can use a real orange instead of canned mandarin oranges. Drizzle the honey and lime juice on the fruit salad right before serving.

3. Greek Yogurt Fruit Salad

For a creamy addition to your fruit salad, try this Greek yogurt sauce. Mix together Greek yogurt, light cream cheese, a dash of sugar, and vanilla. Coat the fruit in the sauce and place the bowl back in the fridge before serving cold.

4. Mojito Fruit Salad

With this recipe, you can have your cocktails and eat them too. Watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew are some of the fruits used in this salad, but you can use whatever fruit you prefer. The fruit is then tossed with a couple tablespoons of rum and a muddled mint, lime, and sugar mixture.

5. Watermelon Feta Blueberry Salad

Feta is a nice pairing with fruit because it adds a salty tang to balance out the sweetness. This recipe calls for mint leaves in the salad, but you could also try using basil. To dress the salad, you can use either a mixture of olive oil, honey, lime, and sea salt, or just stick with plain lime juice.

6. Grilled Fruit Salad

The best fruits to grill are ones that can hold up easily, such as peaches, nectarines, and pineapple. When grilling, make sure you grill for about three to four minutes so they begin to blacken and soften, but aren’t too mushy. Drizzle this salad with some balsamic vinegar and basil.

7. Citrus Caprese Salad with Honey Vinaigrette

Instead of tomatoes, this salad uses citrus fruits, like oranges and grape fruits. Be sure to slice the citrus into thick wheels, similar to tomato slices. Layer the citrus with the mozzarella slices and top them with basil, then drizzle with a honey vinaigrette.
