FLINT, MI — A juice bar with healthy options is scheduled to open in Flint before the year ends.
Tiffany Renee Coleman, a personal fitness trainer who is passionate about health and wellness, began plans to open her business several years ago by writing her goals down.
In late May, Coleman publicly announced her plans had finally come to fruition in a Facebook post, revealing she got the keys to the doors of her new space.
810 Wellness Bar, a juice bar, with menu offerings of juices, smoothies, acai bowls and wellness shots is set to open this fall.
“No one really knew this was coming too much, besides a few people,” Coleman said. “I didn’t really tell anyone because I knew what it’s like when you have a dream and you have people, like crushing your dreams and saying bad stuff over it. I didn’t even tell most of the people in my family. They found out on social media, just like everybody else on social media found out.”
A Flint native, Coleman, currently resides in the Atlanta area but plans to travel back and forth to Flint as the juice bar gears up to open. She will also have a team to operate the business under her leadership.

Renovations are underway at the space, located in the Valley Plaza at 4225 Miller Road, Suite B 7. The building formerly housed the hair business, Hair Team.
Coleman, 23, said it was important for her to start her business in her hometown so she could offer the city some healthier options.
“I want to be able to have other healthier choices for Flint, because a lot of the time in Black communities, all you see is corner stores with bad food,” Coleman explained. “There’s never any healthy grocery stores, any juicing spots.”
The new business owner said while the juice bar will get its start in Flint she plans to expand to other cities, too.
Currently, she works with Sedgewick & Ferwerda Architects to design the layout of the business. Coleman said she plans to work with local suppliers to source the fruit and ingredients for the juice bar.
“I want it to be like when people walk into it (the juice bar) they’re not going to feel like the typical Flint and what you hear and see in typical Flint,” Coleman said. “It’s going to be a space of positivity, to uplift you, peace, a lot of natural elements will be brought into there. So it’s going to have a really, really cool vibe.”
The furniture, décor and ambience will aim to create an inviting space for anyone to drop in and grab something to go or stay and chat awhile.
“I really want it to be an Instagrammable juice bar,” Coleman said, adding the business will have a space where people will want to get dressed up and take pictures in front of a backdrop that will be aesthetically pleasing.
Once the doors to the business opens, Coleman wants to build relationships in the community with schools and athletic teams among others to help foster positivity in the area.
“(It’s) something for Flint that can be an attraction, too,” Coleman said. “That was also in my mind. I want it to be so big that people will come to Flint just to come to this juice bar and to take pictures in this space.”
