After serving customers in downtown Lewes for nearly a decade, Nectar Juice Bar and Café is opening a second location in downtown Millsboro.
The new location at 226 Main St. was most recently home to Blue Water Grill, which closed about a year ago.
According to a public notice from the Alcoholic Beverage Control Commissioner published in July, the second Nectar location will be “a café-style restaurant serving all-day breakfast and brunch fare, as well as salads, sandwiches and lunch fare.” The restaurant will include indoor seated dining for 71 people and a bar with seating for eight people. Restaurant service will be available in all areas.
Sarah McKeown opened Nectar on Lewes’ Neils Alley in 2015. The restaurant is now owned by Lisa McDonald, who was the longtime manager of The Buttery.
“It’s going to be just like the Nectar in Lewes. Same concept and everything,” said McDonald, in an interview Aug. 16.
The hours of operation for the Millsboro location are not known at this time. However, the Lewes location is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week.
Nectar’s website says the Millsboro location is expected to open sometime in August and is accepting applications for the new restaurant. However, said McDonald, the opening will more likely be the end of September or beginning of October. It’s been hard to coordinate everything, and there’s been a learning curve, but there’s a lot of hard work going into opening as soon as possible, she said.
