A Stoke-on-Trent wholesaler has blamed empty shelves on supermarkets not wanting to pay suppliers "a fair price" for fruit and vegetables.
Darren Cookson, of DC Fruit & Veg says his warehouse and market stall in Hanley are full of produce - because he is willing to pay increased sums to his well-established network suppliers, as well as trying out new partnerships.
Many supermarkets - including Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Asda and Morrisons - are currently restricting the number of items shoppers can buy. Tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers are among the most difficult fresh produce to find in stores.
