The FDA has confirmed 82 reports of illnesses that could be linked to recalled, lead-tainted fruit pouches.

The Dec. 26 update also found confirmed complainants are between the ages of zero and 53.

The WanaBana Apple Cinnamon fruit puree pouches, which were sold in the United States under the brands "WanaBana," "Weis," and "Schnucks," were found to contain high levels of lead. That lead contamination has been tied to cinnamon supplied by Negasmart, a third-party company.

In the wake of the recall, WanaBana USA and Austrofood have established a consumer refund programand will reimburse documented out-of-pocket health care expenses up to $150.
