Sons Of Anarchy: 5 Times We Felt Bad For Juice (& 5 Times We Hated Him) - Screen Rant

Juan Carlos "Juice" Ortiz starts off the series as the comic relief in Sons Of Anarchy. His computer hacking skills make him an asset to the club, but other than that he is shown to be slightly dim-witted and often the butt of the rest of SAMCRO's jokes. He is sweet, lovable, and a relatively simple character.

In season 4 things take a turn for the worse for Juice. He is blackmailed into betraying the club and the situation spirals out of control as Juice gets further and further in over his head. Juice ends up having a pretty bad run of things by the end of the series. Keep reading to learn about five times fans felt bad for Juice, and five of the worst things he did that made fans hate him.

10 Felt Bad: When Cameron Hayes Was Shot

When Cameron Hayes is shot in the buttocks, Chibs enlists Juice's help in treating him. He has an uncomfortable Juice plug up the bullet hole and leaves him there while Jax gets more help. When Tara comes to the rescue, she tells Juice that he did a good job and he looks very pleased. It's pretty easy to discern that Juice usually gets nothing but criticism from the club. Gemma remarks that it was nice of Tara to say that because "That guy's not used to good feedback". Juice is a nice guy and it's hard not to feel bad for him in this scene.

9 Hated: When He Started Working With Roosevelt

In season 4, Juice agreed to work with Sheriff Roosevelt in exchange for his silence about the fact that his father is black. Although Juice believes that the IRA and cartel will suffer the most from his betrayal, he still double-crossed his club over a very minor threat. It's true that SAMCRO is built on racism and Juice is the only POC member, but the club knows that Juice is Puerto-Rican and no one seems to have a problem with that. Not to mention the fact that Juice has always been a loyal member of the club.

In spite of the club's rule against Black members, it seems unlikely that they would have done anything drastic to Juice just because he is not 100% Puerto Rican as he had claimed. Especially considering his alternative to telling the truth was to betray them. Later in the series Juice even admits that his father is black to Chibs, who brushes it off, and Jax  eventually gets rid of the club's rule against black members. If Juice would have just admitted the truth from the beginning, he could have saved himself and the club a world of trouble.

8 Felt Bad: When He Was Used As Bait In Prison

In season 2 the majority of SAMCRO are arrested due to a botched raid. In order to get protection while in prison, the club decides that Juice will be used as live bait. A group of inmates are angry with a fellow prisoner named Dion, so they use Juice to lure him into a private room where they can exact their revenge.  After Juice successfully returns to the courtyard he is rewarded by being literally stabbed in the back with a shiv. Juice does a huge favor for the club in this episode and he just can't catch a break.

7 Hated: When He Stole The Brick Of Cocaine

It's pretty painful to watch Juice walk past the trusting prospects and lie to their faces. The moment Juice steals the brick of cocaine is the moment he truly betrays the club. To make matters worse, the Mayans and Sons notice the missing brick, and Alvarez demands the death of whoever took it.  Jax trusts Juice enough to think that there is no way he is guilty, so the Sons run the Prospects through a string of horrifying tests of loyalty, all while Juice watches and says nothing.

6 Felt Bad: His Attempted Suicide

It's fair to say that it's mostly Juice's own fault he is in such a tough situation at this point in the series. He chose to betray the club, but things just kept getting worse and worse and Juice ended up in over his head. You can tell he loves the club, especially during the heartbreaking moment when Clay awards him the Men of Mayhem patch. The terrible guilt he is experiencing leads him to attempt to hang himself in the woods, feeling that there is no other way out of his situation.

5 Hated: When He Killed Miles

When Juice tries to return the brick of cocaine that he stole, he runs into Miles in the woods. While Miles pulls a gun on him and forces him to walk back to the club, Juice is able to overpower and kill him. The worst part is that Juice frames Miles for stealing the brick of cocaine. Miles is deemed a traitor and buried in an unmarked grave, while Juice is celebrated as a hero.

4 Felt Bad: When He Almost Overdosed At Diosa

In season 6, Juice becomes increasingly overrun with feelings of guilt, especially after Clay's arrest. Bobby suggests that he go to Diosa to unwind, but when he gets there he ends up in such a state of panic that he takes large amounts of Oxycontin and nearly overdoses. After Nero and Gemma save his life, he confesses while still high that Jax had him kill Darvaney, another thing eating at his conscience. Juice is a mess in this scene and breaks down sobbing on the floor Even though he screwed up and made a lot of wrong choices, it's really sad to see him in such a rough state.

3 Hated: When He Double Crossed Clay

It's hard to like Clay in the later episodes of Sons of Anarchy, but seeing Juice betray him just feels wrong. Juice is the person who Clay trusted to watch his back after the club turned on him, and it's difficult not to hate Juice for his history of double-crossing people. It's even more painful because Clay really does seem to love and care about Juice, and Juice seems to feel the same. Still he betrays Clay and helps Jax frame him for the murder of Damon Pope so that he can get back in the club's good graces and save his own skin.

2 Felt Bad: His Death

In the end, Juice's death comes from loyalty to the club. He kills Henry Lin for SAMCRO in prison and finally tells Jax the truth about Tara's murder. All this, it seems, ends up being too little too late. Jax tells Juice, "I'll make sure it's quick", referring to the fact that he will be killed in prison. Juice is offered protection by the Chinese if he kills Tully, an ally of the Sons, but he declines. He lets Tully know of the Chinese's plans and tells him to kill him with one request, "Just let me finish my pie".

Juice finally does the right thing and stops running away from the consequences of his actions, even though it results in his death. Even though his end was fitting, it's sad to see how much he changed from the light-hearted character he used to be.

1 Hated: When He Covered Up Tara's Murder

Juice had the chance to do something right when he caught Gemma at the scene of the crime. Instead he chose to betray the club even further. He made Tara's murder look like it was done by the Chinese, denying Jax the truth and ultimately sending SAMCRO on a hunt for revenge in the wrong direction. Juice also shot and killed Roosevelt during the cover up. While Juice understandably has some resentment for Roosevelt, he is overall a decent guy and didn't deserve to get shot in the back while trying to help Tara.
