The following Cumberland County restaurants were found to have violated Pennsylvania’s health and safety regulations during inspections between Nov. 22-28.

Inspections are overseen by the Department of Agriculture. The department notes that in many cases violations are corrected by the restaurant before inspectors leave.

KFC #50

313 Lowther St., Lemoyne

Date: Nov. 23, 2020

Violations:

--The hand-wash sink in the women’s restroom area was blocked by soap bag from dispenser on wall and not accessible at all times for employee use.

--One lid and side door of cardboard dumpster and one lid on garbage dumpster were open. Corrected on site.

--Rear receiving door located in the back area of the food facility has a gap and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.

--Women’s toilet room is not provided with a covered waste receptacle for sanitary napkins. Lid sitting on floor.

--Hand-washing sinks/toilets/urinals are not being cleaned as often as necessary to keep them clean. Dried soap and residue in hand-wash sink. Trash and debris on floor- women’s restroom.

RED ROOSTER PIZZARIA

--Observed an excess buildup of food residue on the handles of the prep table.

--Observed facility does not have a thermometer to monitor the internal temperatures of TCS foods.

--Observed the facility does not have test strips to monitor a quaternary ammonia sanitizing solution at the manufactures required concentration.

Violations:

--The person-in-charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.

--Observed 50 lb. bags of potatoes food stored directly on the floor in kitchen area, rather than six inches off of the floor as required.

--Dust accumulation on ceiling fans in dining area and on fan cover of condensing unit in walk-in cooler.

--Food debris and crumbs on bottom of holding cooler on cook line.

--Non-food contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Grease buildup on handles and outside areas of coolers and other equipment being touched continuously throughout the day.

--The light intensity in the walk-in cooler area is not at least 10 foot candles.

--Food employees observed in cooking/ prep area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers. Corrected on-site.

--Food debris, grease and residue accumulation on shelves and sink surfaces around hand-wash, warewash, and dishwasher areas.

--Old unused equipment stored in kitchen and basement areas, should be removed from food facility.

--Broken plastic shelving in downstairs walk-in cooler.

--Loose rubber door gaskets observed on the holding cooler on cook line cooling unit.

--Grease and drip on suppression lines, light shields, bottom of catch plate and metal lip above filters in hood system.

--Plastic cutting board on top of holding cooler on cook line area has brown discoloration and excessive scoring from knife cuts.

--Slow leak in pipe under hand-wash sink in women’s restroom. Water being caught in a bucket below. Broken back end of faucet at hand-wash sink in kitchen.

--Approximately 20 fruit flies observed around hand-wash, warewash, and dishwasher areas.

--Food debris, trash and dfebris on floor areas under warewash and dishwash machine areas.

1200 Market St., Lemoyne

Date: Nov. 23, 2020

Violations:

--Plastic deflector plate inside ice machine had mildew-like growth. Corrected on site.

--Splash areas of mixer had dried grease and flour accumulation. Corrected on site.

--Grease and dust accumulation on filters of hood system above unused grill now being used as a prep area.
