On Sunday, Lizzo shared a Tik Tok video highlighting a new health regimen she's tried out. Naturally, people lost their minds over it.

The Houston-raised artist's video detailed a juice cleanse detox she'd attempted during quarantine. In doing so, she noted the importance of "practicing safe detox" with the guidance of a nutritionist. Lizzo also made sure to add "do not try without research."

"I’m a big girl who did a smoothie detox and I wanted to share it with you guys," Lizzo said in a followup video, according to Rania Aniftos with Billboard. "And every big girl should do whatever the f--- they want with their bodies.”

The singer, rapper, songwriter said that November was stressful for her so she was drinking and eating things that weren't so great for her digestive system. She added that the cleanse worked for her.

"I detoxed my body and I’m still fat. I love my body and I’m still fat. I’m beautiful and I’m still fat. These things are not mutually exclusive," Lizzo said in a recent Instagram post.

She went on to say this was her way of nourishing her body with greens, water, fruit, and protein. "You don’t have to do that to be beautiful or healthy. That was my way. You can do life your way," Lizzo said.

Some were critical of the singer's detox cleanse and expressed their disappointment.

I don't mind her losing weight/going on a diet or whatever. That is her business and some folks really do need to or want to lose weight for health (mental or physical). I just think advertising something like a juice cleanse diet or whatever is deeply irresponsible.

Any nutritionist or dietitian that promotes any kind of detox is invalid. You’re body already does the detox for you via your liver and kidneys. To promote your organs function properly, drink water, eat food, and SLEEP. @lizzo

In contrast, a few fans came to Lizzo's defense regarding her decision for the detox.

Some ppl are never satisfied if she wants to become more healthier her fans should be proud of that body positive isn’t just about loving your body when your fat it’s loving your body at any size! Her real fans will support her kudos to Lizzo for wanting to become healthy!

To silence her critics, Lizzo shared a final video about the topic on her Instagram.

"Eat, drink, move, rest, your job is to grow, your job is to figure it out along the way. Regardless of what I or any so-called expert says, you love you, and I hope you remember that," Lizzo said.
