Five albums present on the Billboard 200 (Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths in the U.S.) are having spectacular frames this time around, as they make it to anniversaries that are worthy of note. Impressively, four of them fit squarely under the rap/hip-hop label, while just one certainly doesn’t match the sound of the others.
Here are five albums that make big moves on the Billboard 200 chart this week
No. 32 - Juice WRLD - Goodbye & Good Riddance
The album that helped turn Juice WRLD from a rising talent in the hip-hop space to a superstar on the charts hits a special milestone on this week’s Billboard 200, as fans haven’t stopped listening to it since it was released. Goodbye & Good Riddance, the late rapper’s debut album, moves to No. 32 on the latest list as it reaches three full years on the tally, or exactly 156 frames.
No. 43 - Drake - Scorpion
As fans continue to wait for Drake’s upcoming album Certified Lover Boy (which was originally supposed to be released in 2020, and then in very early 2021), they continue to stream the Canadian hip-hop musician’s older titles non-stop. As is almost always the case, Drake occupies many spaces on the Billboard 200, with one hitting a notable milestone this frame.
Scorpion, which was released in 2018 and which technically counts as the rapper’s last proper studio album on his own, has now lived on the all-genre roster for 150 weeks. This is just the latest success story for him on the Billboard 200, as it seems like almost every frame Drake has something to celebrate.
No. 65 - Lewis Capaldi - Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent
It has now been two full years since Scottish singer-songwriter first appeared on the Billboard 200, and in that time, the solo star’s debut album hasn’t fallen off the important ranking yet. The set, which is still powered largely by hit singles like "Someone You Loved" and "Before You Go," makes it to 104 weeks on the chart, or two full years.
No. 102 - Polo G - Die a Legend
Rapper Polo G scored his first-ever No. 1 hit on the Hot 100 a few weeks ago with “Rapstar,” which debuted in first place and has remained one of the biggest songs in America ever since. The track fronts his forthcoming third album Hall of Fame, which is reportedly coming at some point later this year.
As fans hold on and wait to hear what he shares next, the hip-hop talent’s debut album Die a Legend is still going strong, this frame narrowly failing to appear inside the upper half of the Billboard 200 as it hits 100 weeks on the roster.
No. 122 - Future - High Off Life
It’s only been 12 months since Future released his album High Off Life, but it doesn’t even stand as his most recent project. The rapper is known as one of the most prolific musicians in the business, and he regularly drops more than one full collection in a calendar year...but that doesn’t mean listeners quickly abandon his efforts in favor of newer ones.
High Off Life, released in May of 2020, has now spent 52 weeks (a complete year) on the Billboard 200.
