The Texans have gotten strong contributions from several members of their rookie class this season and another first-year player is nearing his return to action.
Center Juice Scruggs was designated for return from injured reserve on Wednesday. He will be able to practice with the team right away and can be added to the 53-man roster at any point in the next 21 days. If Scruggs is not activated, his season will be over.
Scruggs was a second-round pick for the Texans this year, but he has not played in a regular season game yet. A hamstring injury in August led to him being placed on injured reserve before Week One.
Michael Dieter has started the last three games at center for Houston. Kendrick Green and Jarrett Patterson have also seen time at the position.
